Created for a Carnegie Mellon University professional, this executive desk features a vivid Gonçalo Alves veneer top framed by solid black ash. The ash base was carefully stained to balance the veneer’s warm orange tones. Subtly curved skirts remain shallow at the center for generous knee clearance, then deepen toward each side to accommodate the drawers. With no central support beneath the work surface, the desk required careful structural engineering to remain flat, stable, and visually light. ⁠
